Winter bench

I love our new yard.  It has so many areas to decorate in the snow.  We had a fence and gate put in to close off the rest of the backyard and I thought it would be nice to hang a wreath on the gate.  Well of course it looked a little bare so I brought my small bench over.

I love all the big evergreen trees that we have on this property.  They look great in the background with the snow on them.

So this would be a great place to sit with a cup of hot cocoa and watch the wildlife walk by.  I might try and get the front porch done today. It is still a bit cold this morning.

Getting ready to deck the halls

Finally this weekend I will be getting to do some holiday decorating.  I didn't get any Fall decorating done as I was trying to get my house in order for Thanksgiving tomorrow.  I am proud to say that I managed to get the main level and some of the upstairs done.  I wish I could say that for the basement but it is still full of boxes.

I am not sure how I will be decorating for Christmas this year or if I will get a new tree.  I planned on a woodland theme for the basement but since it isn't ready that will have to wait until next year.  I don't have room for a tree in the family room but since the formal living room is vaulted I might have to get a new tree to use in there.

I have been looking back at last years decorating and trying to get some inspiration from Pinterest.  Lets see what I did last year.  My favorite is from my front porch last year.  This year I have a much bigger porch to decorate at the new house.

Next is my hall tree.

My woodland mantel.  I wanted to do something like this for the basement fireplace.

My fun living room last year.

My hot chocolate bar.

A few of my kitchen tablescapes.  Not sure what I will do this year.

We are going to have snow and around the low 20's for Thanksgiving and Friday.  It will perk up a little bit for the weekend with the highs in the mid 30's.  Not sure when I will be tackling the outside.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!

A few pictures of the family room

My family room is very hard to photograph.  I have tried numerous times with different lighting.  It faces the North so not much sun comes in and it stays pretty dark.  I wanted to get a few pics of our new entertainment center and the back corner of the room.

This is the back corner.  Some light does comes in from the window but I used to flash as it was still too dark.

Here is the new entertainment center that we got.  Our old house had one built in so we were able to find one small enough to fit in between the windows.

I still have a little bit more to decorate in this room and once it is done I will be posting the pictures.

I did manage to get the formal living room somewhat cleaned and decorated this weekend.  I pretty much have the main level ready for company on Thanksgiving with the exception of the study.  Right now it is full of books and decor.  I need to paint it before I decide what to put on the shelves.  I might wait until after Christmas to tackle it.

My husbands office (another one almost done)

Today I am sharing the bookcases in my husbands office.  This was suppose to be the guest bedroom but he thought the study downstairs was too small.  I did a faux finish on the wall to look more old world.  I didn't take pictures of the whole room since I still need to get curtains and hang some pictures.  Also his desk area is a mess right now.  Sorry for the glare at the top of the pictures as I had to have the ceiling fan on.

He is thinking about moving the treadmill over to this corner of the room.  Since we don't use the closet I think there will be plenty of room.

The walls aren't that bright of a yellow.  Here is more what the walls looks like in this next picture.

Here is what the bedroom looked like before I painted.  I forgot to get a picture but this is from the listing with other owners furniture.

We are going to replace the ceiling fan with a light fixture.  I have bought it already but the hubby hasn't hung it yet.  Maybe I can get him to do it this weekend.

Dining room is done for now

I have been working on many projects in our new home that are not quite finished yet.  I have managed to get the dining room done (at least for now).  I am still going to change out the cornice board with a different fabric and maybe hang something on each side the mirror. I didn't get the tablescape done yet but hopefully I will get it done before Thanksgiving.

Here is a close up of the buffet.

Here is the close up of the corner cabinet.

I was not able to fit the hutch in the dining room.  I would fit but it had to be on the same wall as the buffet and it looked too crowded.   I only have one wall in this dining room.  There is a wall next to dining room for the formal living so I set it there.

Here is the before picture.  I did take down the panels and painted the room.  It had a faux finish which I didn't really care for.
